As part of its commitment to shaping a more sustainable future of luxury, Bulgari debuts the new Bulgari Man Leather Goods Collection, a combination of iconic styles and on-trend shapes updated with fresh colours, new materials and a more sustainable overall approach. Tomohisa Yamashita, an ambassador of Bulgari as well as an actor and artist, is appointed for the campaign visual of this new collection. Tomohisa Yamashita has commented for this appointment as below.

"The concept for this shoot was 'an extension of Tomohisa Yamashita's everyday life,' so I felt relaxed going into it. There was even a backpack that was similar to the one I use regularly so that felt very familiar and I have more affection [for] it even before we finished shooting (laughs). I usually prefer simple monochrome in my everyday outfits and I thought the new vivid colours…would fit right into my monotone style and go well with everything. I also identified with the sustainability concept of the product's development. I have heard the saying 'good shoes take you to good places,' but I think the same can be said for good bags. Sometimes I imagine what city I might travel to next with nothing but a single bag in hand. In your journey through life, I wish that Bulgari bags will take you to the places where your dreams come true.”

Pushing the boundaries to demonstrate that a minimised environmental impact can go hand in hand with superior quality and iconic design, the eco-conscious collection expresses its modern and dynamic spirit through 13 creations spanning from the more classic shapes - such as the horizontal tote bag, the briefcase and the messenger bag - to the highly contemporary camera bag, belt bag and backpack.

Animated by the unmistakable Bulgari logo in Roman capital letters, each creation plays on the bi-material combination between grainy and smooth metal free calf leather coming from Leather Working Group certified tanneries, which means that their production methods are centered on factors related to environmental performance, such as energy and water usage, waste disposal and recycling, and management of restricted substances.

The outer material in black, Ivy Onyx and Olympian Sapphire is matched with an internal lining in Olympian Sapphire ECONYL® regenerated nylon, while all sewing threads and zipper tapes are made from 100% recycled polyester. Even the straps have been re-thought with an eye on sustainability and realised in 100% recycled polyester, all embroidered with the distinctive Bulgari logo.

A true treat for eco-lovers, the packaging also reflects Bulgari’s overall commitment to reduce the environmental impact by minimising the consumption of plastic: the bags are shipped in 100% bamboo fibre protective packaging and a cardboard box deriving from responsibly managed forests, and they come with a 100% organic cotton bag.

Bulgari’s effort in crafting sustainable products is pursued through an innovation-driven and life cycle thinking approach, which guides its path of continuous improvement. As part of the Leather Working Group (LWG), a non-profit membership Organisation for stakeholders across the leather supply chain, Bulgari is also committed to ensuring that its leather complies with the LWG environmental audit protocol.
