What is microdermabrasion?

During Brisbane’s winter months our skin can become dry and scaly, no matter how much moisturiser you slather on. We chatted with QueensPlaza’s iBeauty Medispa manager Komal, to find out how microdermabrasion can assist, and which skin types it’s most suited to.

What is microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is the best treatment for open pores, thickened or dull looking skin, or for general rejuvenation with no down time. More technically speaking, microdermabrasion is a mechanic resurfacing treatment suitable for most skin types. It can minimise and control pigmentation, reduce the appearance of fine lines and smooth skin texture. iBeauty Medispa microdermabrasion sessions include a AHA skin preparation and calming and hydrating skin mask, perfect for this time of year, and we use real crystal rather than a diamond head machine.

What are the benefits of microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion essentially resurfaces the skin by removing dead skin and closing pores. The result is beautiful soft skin with a reduction of fine lines and wrinkles.

Does the treatment hurt?
No, it doesn’t hurt at all!

What should I do to prepare for my first microdermabrasion appointment?
No preparation is required before the treatment. Simply turn up to your appointment ready to relax.

How many appointments do I need before I see results, and how long should I wait between appointments?
The success of the first appointment and how many appointments are required really depends on the client’s skin. However, we usually rebook our clients for a follow up appointment three to four weeks after the first treatment.

Is microdermabrasion expensive?
A microdermabrasion session at iBeauty Medispa is just $120. So very similar in price to a full body massage or facial.

How long does a microdermabrasion session take?
Microdermabrasion takes 45 minutes with no down time afterwards, meaning you get back to work, your family or shopping.
